A
third generation contractor, some of Murray Thompson’s earliest
memories are riding around to job sites with his father. It is
a tradition he carried on with his own children.
Founded by his father, W. Murray Thompson Construction Co., Inc. can look back at construction excellence in the Rio Grande Valley since 1946. This tradition began with Murray’s grandfather, a road and bridge builder in Alabama. Murray’s father started in the business by first making concrete block. This led into foundation work and eventually general contracting.
Today, W. Murray Thompson Construction Co. typically builds medical facilities, financial institutions, educational facilities, warehouses, retail and general offices, and structures for municipalities.
Years
of experience allow the firm to work in all types of construction
including masonry, structural steel, engineered metal buildings, and
concrete tilt wall construction.
Murray supervises each of his work sites every day. Even on weekends, he is up early, making the rounds and checking progress on jobs. That extra effort pays off for his clients in the form of better buildings.
Unlike
many in the business, W. Murray Thompson Construction Co. is not a
“paper” contractor, subcontracting out all the work. Instead
their staff is a construction work force. They are performing work
on the job thus ensuring more quality control.
Growing up in the business, Murray began working summers on construction sites when he was 11 years old. But he also took that extra step and earned a degree in construction science from Texas A&M University.
It is part of an overall philosophy of quality work done on time and within the budget. A proud tradition continues.
